Why Recognition May Be Required in Malaysia
A divorce obtained in United Kingdom may need to be formally recognised by the High Court of Malaya before it can be relied upon for certain Malaysian legal or administrative purposes.
An application may be made under Section 107(3) of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 (Act 164), after which the resulting order may be used for the relevant Malaysian follow-up steps.
